It was a big month.
That's the view from a hammock, and it's roughly how we felt by the end of it: horizontal, a little stunned, and pointed at something good.
Not everything went to plan. One thing went very much not to plan, and we'll get to that. But first, the stuff that actually matters.

What we've been building.
Two real things happened.
We've landed on manufacturers in Oregon. After a lot of calls, samples, and politely worded "no thank yous, we found the people who are going to help us make this thing for real. Oregon. Where people take water and the outdoors seriously. Felt right.
We've started the patent process. Which means we finally have something worth protecting. It also means we can't show you everything yet. Soon.
Every prototype still gets graded against the same five promises: you can see how much water you have, refill without unpacking your life, clean it without a coat hanger, trust it with your spare socks, and use it at camp. That hasn't changed. What changed is that it's starting to look like a product and less like a garage project with opinions.

Also, we're Instagram famous now.
Officially. Self-declared, but official.
David and Nate did a thing on camera, and people watched it on purpose. Go see for yourself, and if you like it, send it to the friend it reminds you of. That's how this works.
We'd like to thank our families, the algorithm, and nobody else.
Meanwhile, Nate has been proving a point.

The point: Fat Koi hats are perfect for skateboarders.
More specifically, for retired skateboarders who are pretty sure they've still got it.
He's barefoot. He's wearing a dress shirt. He's got one arm out for balance, or for style, he wouldn't say which. And he did, in fairness, stay on the board. We checked.
The hat stayed on too. That's the part we're selling.
The beanie situation has gotten worse.
Last month we told you we'd overestimated how many beanies two families need.
We have since sold three.
Out of four hundred.
Thank you to all three of you. You know who you are. So do we, and we think about you often.
That leaves 397 beanies, so the sale is still on: 25% off the Fat Koi thermal knit beanie through October 31st with code BEAN25.
Navy, waffle knit, cuffed, small red FAT KOI tag. Works on a trail, works in a hammock, and works on a skateboard, probably, though Nate went with the cap for that one. The beanie was at home with its 396 siblings.
Every one that leaves the house goes straight into the next prototype. And Thanksgiving is coming. We would like to arrive with fewer boxes.
— David + Nate
P.S. If you're a retired skateboarder who's pretty sure you've still got it, reply and tell us your best trick. Past tense is fine.
P.P.S. The code is BEAN25. 397 beanies are counting on you.
